Thank You for reading the article detailing questions you might have regarding prints from Joseph Digital Photography.
Because of the inherent differences between display monitors, and the way a display projects light, whereas a print reflects it, the print you receive may not look exactly the same. This is normal and expected. I try and match the print to the real scene as I recollect it, and go through several steps to get them that way.
As images are enlarged, resolution or detail is compromised. (Sorry it doesn't work like you've seen on CSI). The reason some pictures are not offered in larger sizes is for that reason, and because I don't believe the market for a larger version of certain prints exists. If you see a print offered in a size over 4' its because I'm comfortable enlarging to that size.
As an example: The Wallowa Lake picture offered in a 48" x 12" size has a resolution of 170. The human eye, with excellent vision, can resolve or see about 200 dots per inch. To most people the picture referenced above would appear very sharp. That same picture enlarged to 6' wide will drop to a resolution of about 110.
Standing nose-close with excellent vision, it would not be sharp, but you wouldn't describe it as fuzzy either.
The Big Difference, is that large images are normally viewed from a distance of 8 feet or greater, so they really don't need all that resolution. Which is why there offered-
The end product is something I want you to be pleased with. If your not I'll gladly refund your money. I only require you to send me the print back in saleable condition.
Sorry, but we do not refund shipping. If somehow you you damage your print before you get it framed, call me to work out a fair replacement. All packages over $50 are insured so don't hesitate calling to file a claim if its damaged in shipping.
When you receive your print, handle it with care. Find a clean place large enough to roll it out for examination. Use cloth gloves to prevent fingerprints. Avoid trying to hold it up as the larger versions are ungainly and might crease or dimple if not properly supported. After examination, immediately return the print to its protective sleeve until framed.
For the print to last, and to make cleaning possible, having the print properly framed under glass will protect your investment. After framing, be sure to treat it just like any other piece of fine art. Avoid over-lit areas, and certainly anywhere direct sun might be a problem. Your print is made to last a lifetime, and with proper care and framing it will.
When you purchase from me online, an intermediary company actually handles the money part of the sale. This is done to facilitate secure card transactions that would be too costly for a small operator such as myself. I am not doing this to avoid my commitments, and the company I chose is fair and reputable. Even though you are technically purchasing the item from them, it ships directly from me to you. If you don't trust them, feel free to contact me, either by e-mail or phone, or you can purchase from one of the local galleries in town.
